Classes in English & Spanish;
Tutorial in English, Spanish, Ukrainian & Belarusan.
Unencumbered individuals; ages 18-81.

second floor), academic (ability to read and write in one’s own language is a pre-requisite), work, recovery, offender

In the Eastern Orthodox Tradition, ordination to the Offices of Cantor, Sub-deacon, Deacon and Priest are
reserved to men). Women may combine the study of Choir Singer and Cantor and with a few additional hours of
conducting study may receive a CHOIR MASTER’s CERTIFICATE, Women who are engaged or married to
candidates for Cantor, Sub-deacon, Deacon and Priest may monitor classes, seminars and rehearsals at no cost
if they are donating 15 hours a week of volunteer time to the Seminary.
STUDY: Master the singing petitions of the Litanies in various forms for Morning and Evening Services,
Lessor and Great After-Supper Prayer, The Hours of Feast Days, the three forms of Divine Liturgy, sung
and spoken promptings to priest and/or bishop during services, the directing of the faithful during the
singing of the Symbol of Faith (Credo), Meet is it in truth, and Our Father; the intoning of the Holy Gospel
at the Divine Liturgy. Learn the actions of a deacon and how he assist the priest and bishop during service
preparation and during the services, understand the deacons role in the maintenance of the Vivtar (area
behind the iconostasis) and the whole of the temple precinct and the requirements in terms of materials for
various supplies and items utilized in the temple; the role of the deacon in the distribution of assistance to
those in need; Lastly but quite importantly the preparation of sermons.
WORK: Daily service sung in Monastery Chapel and the Institute’s Touring Groups which sings various
concerts during the December-January and the Lenten-Paskal (Ressurrection) Seasons. Assist with the
preparing of meals, the maintenance of the facilities and help in the offices 15 hours a week.
BENEFITS: Air-conditioned private (one person) dorm room with shared bath, meals on fast days, after
Saturday Vigil, Sunday Liturgy & Great Feast Day Services; “uniforms” i.e. appropriate matching clothing
for services and off campus performances, small cash stipend, cell phone reimbursement to motivated or
exceptional students including those with bi-lingual competence. Limited relocation allowance and/or a
larger stipend for applicants/students with demonstrable vocal music performance abilities and/or vocal
sight reading abilities. Certificates to sponsoring or endorsing jurisdiction if applicable. Placement
assistance available upon completion, but not guaranteed.
